Who Are We?

  • We are a group of fully trained Forest School leaders led by Sam Goddard. We all hold Level 3 Forest School Leaders qualifications as well as First Aid certificates and full insurance. Sam also hold a minibus licence
  • We run a Forest School consultancy service which supports schools in finding and creating a new Forest School site, writing policies, procedures and risk assessments to facilitate them in setting up a Forest School project
  • We work full time with local primary schools, secondary schools, children's centres, voluntary and private organisations planning, delivering and evaluating Forest School sessions

  • We have experience of working with children with various additional needs including ADHD, Downs Syndrome, Autism and physical disabilities

  • Sam holds a Level 4 Forest School Trainers certificate. We deliver Forest School and Outdoor Learning courses around the UK

  • We have set up and run holiday and after-school clubs in various local woodlands

  • We have experience of working with the Forestry Commission and the Woodland Trust finding, risk assessing and developing new sites

  • We have experience of putting together successful funding bids to kick start new projects

Sam Goddard

Sam founded Rooted Forest School in 2009 and has been working hard to develop quality services for schools, pre-schools and other groups ever since. His vision is to see Rooted Forest School become a leading provider of quality training, delivery and development services across the Uk and abroad. Sam has over 15 years experience working with young children, first as a childminder, then a Forest School Practitioner. He has experience of running sessions with many different age groups from 1 year old to over 90! He still loves getting outdoors with the children and playing in the woods and in passionate about the benefits Outdoor Learning and Forest School can bring to all children and adults. Sam's other interests are green woodwork, bushcraft and music, all of which he brings into his sessions. He has traveled to China several times to deliver international training and assist settings with the inplimentation of Forest School programmes.
